Wetlands for LiFE: Future Journalist Workshop

The "Wetlands for LiFE Future Journalist Workshop" provided hands-on training to over 300 postgraduate journalism students, enhancing their skills in environmental reporting on wetlands. Tailored specifically for journalism and mass communication students, the workshop emphasized accurate and impactful storytelling to empower future journalists to champion wetland preservation and climate action.

Participants engaged in knowledge sessions that explored the ecological significance of wetlands and developed storytelling strategies that highlighted their importance. By equipping emerging journalists with the tools and understanding needed to create compelling narratives on environmental protection, this initiative contributed to informed discourse and supported the sustainable management of these vital natural resources.

BHOPAL SRINAGAR PATNA BHUBANESWAR

Held on February 22–23, 2024, at the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, Bhopal. The workshop was attended by 52 media students and 16 faculty members in wetland conservation and environmental journalism.
The two-day programme included expert-led sessions on wetland ecology, storytelling techniques, and solutions journalism, along with field visits to Bhoj Wetland and Jal Tarang Wetland Interpretation Centre. Participants pledged as "Wetland Mitras" to advocate for wetland conservation and sustainable reporting practices.

Report 

Held on May 7–8, 2024, at the Media Education Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir, Srinagar, this workshop was attended by 60 media students and 14 faculty members, it focused on wetland conservation and environmental communication.
Highlights included expert-led sessions on storytelling, solutions journalism, and wetland ecology, with a field visit to Wular Lake to observe conservation efforts. The program inspired 37 participants to become "Wetland Mitras," pledging to champion wetland conservation in their communities.

Held on July 19–20, 2024, at the School of Journalism & Mass Communication, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna, Bihar, this workshop was attended by 40 media students and 10 faculty members in wetland conservation reporting. The program combined expert-led sessions on wetland ecology, solutions journalism, and communication techniques with a field visit to Rajdhani Jalashay.
Key outcomes included the enrollment of 37 Wetland Mitras, pledging to advocate for wetland conservation, and equipping participants with the skills to create impactful environmental stories.

The program brought together students and experts for a comprehensive two-day capacity building initiative on environmental journalism.
Key outcomes included the enrollment of new Wetland Mitras, a field visit to Chilika Lake, and equipping participants with skills to create impactful environmental stories about wetland ecosystems. Participants engaged in expert-led sessions on wetland ecology, solutions journalism, and environmental communication techniques, with a particular focus on the conservation challenges and ecological significance of Odisha's wetlands.
